ACT, Inc. Internship: Project Manager Intern in Iowa City, Iowa

Working Hours: 20-25 hours a week. Will need to be in the office at least three full time days.

Job Description/Responsibilities: The Project Manager plays a key role on the ACTNext team using project management expertise to drive technical readiness in the execution of cross-functional projects.

  • Establishes, tracks and executes the project schedule, delivering projects on-time and within budget, scope planning, risk management and mitigation

  • Proactively follows up with others to ensure commitments are on track and stay on track; works with project team resources to make sure the appropriate approval on deliverables is obtained

  • Create, track and manage project schedules; recognize potential slippage and new dependencies; work with project team to make schedule corrections.

  • Communicate project status and direction to Project Sponsor and Owner and project team as appropriate

  • Keeping and distributing meeting minutes and status reports

  • Keeps stakeholders proactively informed/consulted with prior to sharing information

  • Provides factual representations of project issues, packages the news with next steps, remediation plans, specific support requests of leaders, and appropriate knowledge of the issue to be able to answer predicted questions

  • Completion of planning and obtaining commitment to the work

Typical work related activities include:

  • Work collaboratively with other ACT team members

  • Attend meetings and take notes

  • Update project milestone boards

  • Support events planning activities

  • Schedule meeting rooms

  • Coordinate schedules, agendas and documentation

  • Work effectively with leadership and team members on project management


Experience and Educational Requirements:

Working toward bachelor's degree (preferably in Business, English, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or related field). Strong communication and organization skills.
